oh where to start today?

Well I managed to get Kelly up at 9....I got Zachary's appointment made 10 and an appointment for me too...at noon...our appointments are right across the street so I decided to take the kids to the Asia Cafe for lunch to kill time....

Zac's appointment went well. I had six kids with me (Tricia's son David was with us and I didn't have time to drop him at home before we had to go). AND was unable to drive of course...so just HOW did that work? Well Kelly does have her permit...and this was much of the reason why she got it, in case there came a day when everyone had to be somewhere while dad was at work and I'd NEED someone who could drive.

We checked into Zac's appointment at 9:59 LOL...so we did it...and smoothly I might add...The teens (and David) did well trying to help with the toddlers...and Harley was in my charge (it's a full moon cycle btw and it's not been an easy week with him on top of him being completely out of routine with no school AND no Creative Perspectives AND no in-home therapies all of last week!) I carried a big 'can' of Clorox wipes with me and my own bottle of hand sanitizer...literally cleaned the waiting area...every single thing Zac touched was wiped down with a clorox wipe...I was getting some of the strangest looks but I have been doing the same thing at home...and anyone who even so much as touches his shirt has to use the hand sanitizer...I can't have a houseful of kids (who are supposed to be going back to school tomorrow and Wednesday) have this stuff on their eyes--and especially don't want to expose the one who wasn't even mine!!

The doctor checked his ears...well it was a PA...which were clear. She saw his tubes and asked how many ear infections he's had...umm, none?! She asked how many sets of tubes he'd had (3) and then was really confused as to why he's had so many sets of tubes with no ear infections...well he failed his ABR and then he failed it again at 6 and 9 weeks...he had birth fluids trapped in his ears and collapsing ear canals. In her defense, she is new in this office and their computers were down so she could not look into his history. She feels his eye is defnitely not pinkeye - it's an infection...not sure what caused it...She originally felt a topical would work best for him but then realized that it causes temporary blindness so went with eye drops instead. Poor guy, they seem to have burned (the one side effect noted!) Hopefully it will get easier...well that was part of what sucks...I was not able to see well enough to do the drops and I cannot wrestle his body weight when he's throwing a tantrum (because he doesn't want to get the eye drops o be held down to do it!)...it's just too much! I know that is one of the 'recuperation' that I am just now beginning to stick to....

Anyhow, I have a pretty good idea of what caused this eye infection and I made sure the the teens knew it....The day I had the stomach flu, I pretty much slept all day long...I woke up here and there...but each time I woke up Zac was eating a lollipop...beyond the obvious reasons as to why I didn't think this was the best way to baby sit him (Robert, shame on you!)...he was a MESS...his face and hands were sticky -- to the point that his fingers were sticking together...and of course he also touched his eyes! GRH! So I made sure they knew that washing his hands and face are more about "cosmetics"...don't see why they didn't see that before but whatever!

So yeah, he's on eye drops for an eye infection...not pinkeye. We were getting quite the looks in the waiting room...we have Harley, who his pacing around battles his evil forces...me trying to keep Zachary from touching anything and making sure it got wiped down...and trying to keep other children in the waiting area from wanting to play with him...since I didn't know what it was...Kelly trying to keep Tyler busy and Robert & David playing their games oblivious to the world! I left Robert & David in the waiting room with the clorox wipes and had them clean everything that Zachary was touching in the waiting room while we were back for the appt. The appointment didn't take long...but some of the same people who were waiting when we were took back were still in the waiting room when we left...and one lady was giving me the "oh my God are they all yours?" kind of look...so I turned to her and said no, one isn't mine, but the rest are...and walked away.

Then we went to the Asia Cafe...we have been going there as long as we've been together (in fact our first "date" was a picnic with Chinese food ... from this place!)...Actually I've been going there since 1989...and the owner is always there...She is a very sweet lady who speaks very broken English...She wanted to know where Andrew was and was telling this other person who works there (I think today it was her husband) something...but with her body language she pointed to Robert and then to Zachary and then made the "tall" kind of hand signal...I think she was telling him that we had been coming there since Robert was Zachary's size! LOL I thought it was pretty cool that she asked for Andrew (we haven't been there since this past summer, when we used to go once a week -- when I worked over there).

I am falling asleep at the keyboard, I am so tired...I will have to fill in the rest when I get a minute in the next day or two....LOL--In fact, since the rest is about my appt I will probably just update my other blog with that info...LOL...I'll put a link here when I get that one done and you can see the rest of our day...
