Good News, Bad News, Good News

I can't believe I didn't blog about this...

Good news: we got our new van.

Bad news: the check engine light came on after owning it for six days. After reading the owners manual I leared that the check engine light will come on (steady) if there's something "off" with the emissions -- It will flash if there's something wrong with the engine itself.

Good news: The owner's manual said that if the gas cap was on crooked it could make the check engine light come on...to add more gas and drive about 100 miles...we did that and WHHAAALAA!! The check engine light is OFF now.

I'm gonna go and get a Chilton's and start doing the maintenance (sp?) on this beast myself...We need to do an oil change, a general tune up and a flush and fill. None of those things are hard and I would much rather do them myself (since I know how) than to spend over $300 on someone else doing it!

Tracy~Chilton's are harder to understand.......Get a Haynes......We have one on every vehicle that we have ever owned........I do have some chilton, thanks to my dad but my dh isn't going to turn down free automechanics books.....

Ya for getting the check engine light fixed so easily and quickly.....

Is your van a Chevy? When we bought my DH's firebird, the Check Engine light kept coming on, and we finally figured out that the wrong gas cap was on the car. After we ordered the right one, the light didn't come on anymore.
