Seven years ago today

We were heading to the court house to finalize the adoption...We had to argue with the baliff that Harley was a special needs child (who also happened to be very sick that day) so he could not be just dropped off at the child care center in the court house so we could attend the hearing.

The judge took the bench and upon seeing Andrew cradling a sick little boy decided to bring a chair down in front of the table to talk rather than "lord over us up on that bench". He told us to sit and relax while he watched Andrew nursing a sick Harley...Andrew tried to put Harley down so that he could provide his 'testimony' and Harley began crying so Andrew scooped him up and held him tight...

The judge's response was "It is obvious that you are taking very good care of this young man and I think I've seen and read enough that no hearing is truly necessary". He said he "had seen enough" and that it just needed to be signed...He signed the papers making Andrew Harley's official father.

He congratulated Andrew and said "I could think of no better man to take this child as his own"...I whole heartedly agree ... then and now...

That is such a sweet story! I really think it takes a special person to raise someone elses child as their own :)
(My husband is not the biological father of my oldest daughter)
