I just got a call from Creative. OK, they are in the 'business' of dealing with autism...$40 an hour business BTW!!
Today on the calendar, they had bowling and a movie...Harley was sooo hip on a movie but HATES bowling (because it requires waiting). They decided instead of going to a movie, they would go mini golfing instead...way to go - mess with an autistic's head why don't cha? Besides, that's how I got him into the van today...he didn't want to go bowling so I reminded him "and a movie"....
So this call I just got? Informing me of the 'sudden' change in plans and the total meltdown Harley had. The only way they could get him into the car was to tell him they would take him to Burger King (his fav BTW)...
THEN they call and ask me if it's ok to take him there...I could've said no out of spite...so that they would have to deal with the behavior that ensued but then I realized, it would spill over to tonight, tomorrow, and so on and so on...So I said yes....
OK, so the kid's overweight and we're trying to keep him on a 3 meals a day thing...So now what? They're gonna get him a 'big kids double cheese hamburger" b/c that's what he wants...Then what do I do when it comes time to eat dinner? Tell him "no you ate BK at 2:30?" not gonna happen...I guess today's a 4 meal a day day...
Bribing that kid with food always works, but we're trying to get away from that! GRRHH!! In fact that's part of the reason he changed schools...the 'other' school, with a special ASD program was using food to bribe him for EVERY SINGLE LITTLE thing he did, whether it be drinking without spilling or going to the bathroom without peeing on the floor...
And the worst part? I'm the one who has to answer to the pediatrician about all this stuff...At least he's good and understands...But still, it makes it look like I'm not doing MY job!!
OK, Rant over...time to go and get my little bug from camp...
