Harley updates

I'm not even sure where to start...I had mentioned the ... incident that came up with the OT right? Well it's kind of at a stand still with the holidays. We have decided not to file police charges as we do not want to drag Harley though a police inquisition nor court. However we did make sure the incident made it into her personnel file--and according to the speech therapist that will follow her to whatever agency she goes to. We also filed an incident report with DDRC who in turn turned it into a "Critical incident report" with State and Federal medicaid. I explained (while in tears of course) that the OT is trying to claim "self defense" and exaggerating about what a danger Harley is "to himself and others, especially the little ones" and I am afraid that her exaggeration will turn into the discussion about possible out of home placement. I will NOT have that!! She is also trying to tell them in her incident report that we are "rough" with him and do the same types of takedowns...which is completely and totally false...we have NEVER done a hold that twists his arm behind his back and leaves bruises on him. I admit we HAVE had to do take downs in public with him, but that was only for his safety when he runs into traffic blindly or something like that! Anyways...we have a call in to the medicaid investigator and are awaiting her call to finalize the report.

THEN another issue came up with Harley today with his school. They must think that because I had brain surgery they can pull things and I won't jump up and say "WRONG!"...but no matter what I am dealing with I am Harley's strongest advocate! I received a report on Tuesday from his behaviorist that the school had told him Harley had slept all day and not attended any classes. I have addressed this with the school HOW many times?!? I do NOT send him to school to sleep--I expect him to participate in school...I do not see school simply as a babysitter nor do I expect them to see it that way. Of course, they asked Joe from CP (the behaviorist) if he had a change in meds...WHEN will they get the point that the meds are NOT their job and they are not allowed to ask about meds unless it's a change in the ones he takes at school. I have explained to them, more times than I can count...that this is simply manipulation on his part...When he is home he takes the EXACT same medications and does not sleep all day long. Funny how he suddenly wasn't tired when it came time to do his grocery shopping with Joe...was wide awake and alert?! Of course I can't drive and I have Andrew's schedule so packed between his working and running all my errands, the first thing that came to mind was to contact Patricia at ARC. She said she would take it up directly with them and not to worry about it. I really hope that I can repay everything that ARC has done for our family (they have helped with Robert's case and with Harley's case since both were 2 years old!). Maybe I can start working volunteer hours there once Zachary starts school?

Well, now is time for me to beg...I am going to start this in another post...
