Update on Harley and the Outdoor Lab

The rest of the kids in his class come home tomorrow -- they've been at outdoor lab (freezing their butts off I'm sure!!) all week...Harley did not attend, even during the day...instead today he is hosting a peanut butter & jelly party for the teachers today...He is making them all a sandwich and cutting it into triangles as part of his geometry portion of his math. He wrote a letter to his regular 6th grade classroom teacher telling her how much he missed her and one to the rest of the class to tell them how much he hopes they enjoyed going to Outdoor Lab.

He's very much enjoying being in the self-contained classroom this week and is back to blossoming...too bad it is short-lived...

In March we will have his Annual IEP meeting / transition. I've already started on some goals I'd like to see, begun the process of reinstating his behavior plan and having his transferred to Fletcher Miller for the remainder of his school 'career'...The program there has an extra 'extension' that will allow him to continue there beyond the high school years while in a transition to work program. I think it will be a great placement for him. Unfortunately, even though I've started on the paperwork that it will take on my end, his teachers and psychologist at the current school has to include going to Fletcher Miller in his IEP...I wonder if they will give me problems doing that considering they just couldn't understand that he wouldn't be attending Outdoor Lab this week.
