Finally, temps are cooling off here in Denver!!! Today's high is predicted to be 49!! So in preparation I hid away all of Harley's shorts last night...He's a true Coloradoan (or is it Boulderite like his dad?)...He wants to wear shorts year round.
After dinner last night we had a nice dicussion about how cold it would be and that it would be a 'long pants' day...Again before bed we talked about it. When he was still up at midnight (!) I went in and asked him "what are you going to wear to school tomorrow?" YAY I got the RIGHT answer - long pants....
7am I prompt Harley to get dressed -- remember we have to do this all in steps...I had to remind him 'clean underwear', then 'long pants' and a shirt. The kid won't wear anything long sleeved (sensory issues thanks!) but I guess I should have specified that he should be wearing a shirt that at least had sleeves...Oh well, at least he's wearing long pants.
He eats breakfast (which has now graduated to cereal without milk...I hope someday we can get him to eat cereal WITH milk, but you just can't mix foods like that, "It's just wrong!" I go to get Tyler out of his bed and waaalaaa...Harley's in shorts!! I asked where are your long pants and I get this response "The evil monster had to eat them" *sigh*. I opened up the door and had Harley step outside in his shorts...It was COLD (you could see your breath!), foggy and raining. IT WORKED!! He put his long pants back on!!
It lasted about 10 minutes..."no recess without long pants"...THAT got him moving back into his long pants...I just hope they don't make today an inside day because of the rain...
So off went Harley to school with his maroon sweat pants, an orange muscle shirt and his black and blue jacket! He may not match, but he's at least wearing long pants on a cold day with a minimum of hassle....
I know I really should take some creative writing classes to make this much more fun to read!!
